Join dance master Dr. Ravibandhu Vidyapathy for a riveting look back at the visionary designs of his father, Somabandhu Vidyapathy. Discover how a single, specific act of costume design legitimised women’s participation and reshaped gender roles in the Kandyan dance tradition, transforming the art form and paving the way for the modern, professional female dancers in Sri Lanka. Featuring rare archival imagery, and a personal reflection on Vajira Chitrasena's iconic costume a design that gave all future female dancers cultural liberation. The session will close with a powerful live percussion and dance performance.
