Muvindu Binoy
Muvindu Binoy (b. 1989, Colombo) is a multidisciplinary artist redefining digital art through bold experimentation and wit. Over the past decade, he has emerged as a leading voice in Sri Lanka’s digital art scene, exploring themes of gender, identity, and cultural contradiction through surreal, satirical collages created with generative AI and internet imagery. Recognized for his striking visual energy and incisive social commentary, his work has been exhibited at the India Art Fair (2023), Sharjah Art Foundation (2022), and Rajiv Menon Contemporary, Los Angeles (2024). Binoy has also collaborated across music, film, and art including One Night Only with IndoWarehouse and was an artist-in-residence at Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2021).
Muvindu Binoy’s Sit, Transi’ is a large-scale digital collage composed of 120 internet-sourced fragments, meticulously assembled to reflect the chaos and complexity of modern Sri Lankan culture and politics. Infused with his signature absurdist humor and cynicism, the work invites viewers into a maze of symbols and metaphorsmirroring the sensation of waiting in transit, suspended between stillness and movement. Through this layered composition, Binoy captures the restless gaze of contemporary existence, constantly seeking meaning amid visual and cultural overload.
